Day Three - time to blog

Welcome to the first devlog post for MySpace - A rock legend.

I was messing around a few days ago with some new Unity assets i'd bought a while back and felt the urge to make an actionRPG utilising them. I took a quick look at the upcoming jams for something that was about to start and #GoedWareGameJam was starting the next day and seemed like a good fit, having no strict restrictions (I can't code so i have to use visual scripting and obviously I wanted to use these purchased assets). The themes were also interesting except for 'space' but i thought... 1 in 4 chance, should be fine.... of course the universe sucks so 'space' it is.

A while back i'd had a concept for a game that would be a lovel etter to Brutal Legend with a female protagonist smashing hordes of skeletons and demons to beat the witch king (or whatever, y'know, generic power metal fantasy stuff) and I thought that'd go well with this theme. Space as territory control, basically an arena battler with a king of the hill / capture the flag mechanic where the player would have to keep enemies out of their space for long enough to capture the arena. I wasn't sure what to call it until I made the game page just now....

If you've been around the internet since the early 2000s you'll have heard of MySpace, the home of indy bands and teenage emo/goths before tumblr. It was a perfect name... it has 'space' in it and it's where bands used to do all their promos.... thus was fully born MySpace - A Rock Legend.

----

So far i've mostly concentrated on art. I've got my world terrain created and done the work on my main character and her clothes. As an artist I like to make things look good, and mechanics are somewhat secondary. Im only planning very basic combat and timed capture mechanics so that gameplay itself won't take long to implement with Game Creator 2 which is my chosen Unity visual language.

I've been streaming progress on and off here are links to my videos so far
